A scanner is a simple and inexpensive way to digitize images for printing, editing on the computer, or send it by e-mail.
Digital cameras do not need to use a computer the ability to edit photos. Continuous improvement scanners have made it cheaper and easier to turn photos from digital images that you can add, modify and distribute. And flatbed scanners are no longer limited to original documents. Our tests show that the best platforms are now an expensive film scanner face when it comes to scan slides and negatives. It is no small accomplishment, such as improvements in the resolution that new scanners offer more and better equipment, film or slides in a safe, accurate scans.
What is available
A number of scanners come from companies, including Microtek and VISIONEER who made their name in scanning technology. Other brands include PC makers and specialists like Canon, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, and Nikon.
What kind of scanner, you must keep in mind - flat sheet, or a film - depends largely on how you use it. If you're short on space, consider a multifunction device.
Flatbed scanners. Over 90 percent of the scanners on the market is flat. They work well for text, graphics, photos and all that is flat, including a drawing gardener last cheeks. Flat includes optical character recognition (OCR), which converts words on a printed page into a word processing file on your computer. It also includes basic software for image editing. While the image quality of a scanner produces depends in part on the software included with it, there are several hardware features consider.You start scanning by running the driver software supplied with the scanner or by pressing a soft button. Models with buttons automate routine tasks allowing you to use the scanner as you would other office equipment. In some models, you can customize the button functions. Each of these tasks can also be performed by the scanner software without using buttons. Copy / Print button starts a scan and sends a command to print the results on your printer, making the two devices act as a copier. Other functions of the buttons found on some models include scan to file, scan to a fax modem, scan to email, scan to Web, scan to OCR, cancel, scan, energy saving, start the software exploration and on / off.
You can also launch the software driver program as a word processing program that meets a standard known as TWAIN industry. Scanner driver software allows you to see a scan on the screen and crop it or adjust contrast and brightness. When you are satisfied with the edited image, you can perform a final scan and pass the image of a running program or save it to your computer. You can make more significant changes to an image with image editing software specialist. And to scan text from a book or a letter in a word processing file on your computer, run the OCR software.
Many documents combine text with graphics, photographs and drawings. A handy software feature found in many scanners, called multi-scan mode, these hybrids can be broken into different sections that can be treated separately in a single scan. You can designate, for example, sections of a magazine article that are pure text for the OCR software separately from the graphics section. Other scanners would require a separate analysis for each section of the document.
Some models of flatbed scanner, film adapters designed to scan film or slides, but if you want to scan film or slides often, you're better off getting a separate scanner film.
HOW TO CHOOSE
Consider how much resolution you need. If you want a scanner only original prints, especially like the models, which delivers 1,200 dots per inch (dpi), they are generally the cheapest models. You can always set the scanner to work unless the maximum resolution. In fact, most scans of photos, graphics and text is only 150 to 300 dpi. (To view images on the screen, 75 dpi is sufficient.) Highest resolution scans take longer and create larger files, but usually add little.
For film and negatives, you want a minimum resolution of 2400 dpi. As a high value is needed to capture enough detail so that the image created from an original 35 mm can be extended.
When comparing specifications, focuses on the perspective of the native resolution. It is more important than the "interpolated" or "best" solution, which comes in handy when analyzing last line.
Consider-bit color for the film. If you plan to make enlargements of photos or for scanning negatives or slides, you should be aware of a specification known as color-bit depth. The greater bit depth color (24 bit is the basic 48-bit is at the top), the better the scanner can distinguish the subtle nuances of light and dark.Consider a multifunctional device.
