Take a look at this review of the Canon Powershot A540 digital camera. I bought it and I decided to give my feedback to help someone if you want to buy it.
I'm definitely a novice photographer, even if it is something of a joke in my family about how many photos I take. I tried to change my previous digital camera that took excellent photographs of static objects, but it was not fast enough to catch the shot I wanted, if the subject had not yet - for example, children playing. I've had this camera for a month and had about 450 photos in different conditions. Some things I noticed:
Battery 1): not much, but honestly, better than I expected. I'm on my third set of disposable batteries, all that came with the camera took about 100 photos, and I passed the second round a few days before you travel - they were not "dead", but I thought they were near the end of their usefulness. Partially charged batteries are more visible when using the flash when they can really do to delay the next move. And it's nice to be able to use AA batteries.
2) Red Eye: Wow, what a dramatic improvement on my old A95 Yes, I still occasionally red-eye correction, but much less often. I built the red-eye reduction "ON"
3) Speed: Again, WOW, there is virtually no shutter layer - I press the button and get the image I wanted. Ok, I also learned to push some button to focus the camera and wait for the shot I want - but even when my subject is moving, and I do not want to pre-development, I can almost always capture the moment I meant to catch. I was provided with new batteries or I do not use the flash, I can take the next picture just a little later beat - and I understand that there is a "burst mode" I have not used that takes two frames per second until the memory or terminated.
4) Ergonomics: There are small cameras out there, but if this fits awkwardly into the pocket of his trousers. It is significantly lighter than the old camera. The control is a logical and easy to use, do not get hit accidentally, but they are difficult to adapt to a purpose.
5) Parameters: There are many default settings on this camera, I've only scratched the surface and have been impressed so far. This allows those of us with the best skills are described as "click here dummy" better photos in special circumstances -. On the beach, snow scenes, Interior, moving objects lost my manual settings, but I have understood that they are there, too.
6) Zoom: 4x optical zoom is more than you will not find any more (with some exceptions notible). This camera also has an icon that flashes on the screen where if there is no movement of the camera that could affect decision. I realized I can not hold the camera at full zoom enough to prevent the flash as a warning to me. I did not realize that the quality of the snapshot was beaten, but I suspect that if we jump to 8x10 (or maybe more) you may notice. It makes me wonder if a 3x zoom would have been sufficient for my needs, because the chances of me carrying around and using a tripod is virtually nil. I turned off the digital zoom the camera, I think I can if I want to cultures after the fact, but I'm starting with a maximum resolution.
7) Memory: get a second card. Time. I have 1 GB card, I've never come close to filling, despite the creation of photoquality, but I download frequently and is not used in burst mode or video.
8) Image Quality: Great I can see the individual drops of water glisten in the air, shots splashing my son my husband, the colors are rich and precise. A couple of shots, especially if I used the setting "kidsnpets", are a bit '"soft" - not sharp enough pictures, but I only noticed this when I really blow the image up on the computer screen, and I doubt I appreciate it otherwise. I think if you order a 8x10 or smaller do not recognize him at all.
All I preferred my old canon A95: The swivel LCD screen, which was also a little more visible in bright light (perhaps because they could not adjust the angle)
